BGMEA No decision has been made to open a garment factory. Roca Association (BGMEA). For this reason, the organization has tried to bring back farm workers. BGMEA said in a message to website members.

According to the directive, BGMEA will issue instructions to keep garment factories open taking into account the general situation to keep the economy running. Workers in the village are requested not to come to Dhaka until they receive this instruction.

The BGMEA says that at the beginning, the factories will remain open on a limited scale. As a result, in the first step, only factory workers can join the job. The garment owners’ organization has requested that no worker be dismissed on humanitarian grounds. Furthermore, BGMEA will not provide assistance to workers if they are brought to Dhaka in adverse circumstances.

Public transportation is known to be closed on public holidays, in such a situation the BGMEA has issued this instruction so that employers do not compel workers to go to work.

Meanwhile, the government has extended the general holiday for another 10 days until May 5. Due to Corona, the government first announced a holiday from March 26 to April 4. Later it was extended in three phases until April 25.
