Information Minister Hasan Mahmud has said that those who choose the fundamentalism-conspiracy-rumor path by not dealing with the political opposition should be cautious.
He spoke as a keynote guest at the Bangladesh Press Council 2020 Medal ceremony at the Information Building auditorium in Kakrail on Saturday afternoon.
The Minister of State for Information, Murad Hasan, chaired the President of the Press Council, Judge Mohammad Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed. Members of the Press Council included Awami League presidium member Abdul Matin Khasru and Advisory Council member Mozaffar Hossain, Press Council medal jury chairman Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and council member Naeem Nizam.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said: “Whether one admits it or not, Bangladesh is moving forward today overcoming all obstacles and constraints. We have outperformed Pakistan on all human, social and economic indicators. India and Pakistan are fighting over the reflection of the IMF Asian Development Bank survey, while some in our country do not want to admit it. Our political opponents, by not dealing politically with the government, incite fundamentalism, they choose the path of conspiracy and rumor. Everyone should be careful with them.
Noting that the law is being updated to increase the power of the Press Council at this time, the Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a history of unprecedented media development and well-being has been created. in the country in the last decade. To maintain this progress, it is necessary to increase the power of the Press Council. To this end, work is being done to update existing laws.
