A woman (25) from Tungipara in Gopalganj came to Kabiraj’s home in Nandail, Mymensingh to turn her husband’s mind to her. After holding her for six days, Kabiraj caught her and raped her. When he wanted to leave with a protest, Kabiraj threatened: ‘I have brought seven women to my house and made them disappear. You are woman number eight. If you go too far, no one will find you. The victim worked in a garment factory in Dhaka. After the case on Sunday, the woman was sent to the hospital for a medical examination on Monday morning and the arrested Kabiraj was sent to court.

The victim said that although her home was in Tungipara, she lived in Dhaka with her husband, who was married five years ago. She had had disagreements with her husband for some time. In this situation, she was unable to bring her husband even after adopting various methods. Talking to one of his girlfriends, he found him a Kabiraj. Following the direction given by his girlfriend last Friday, he arrived at the Kanurampur bus stop in Nandail. Kabiraj Muktol Hossain’s house is near a gas station near the bus stop. Kabiraj demanded 20,000 rupees and one khasi from him to arrange the marriage relationship. An agreement was later reached with Kabiraj for 10 thousand rupees.

According to Kabiraj, the woman stayed there for seven days. On the sixth day, Kabiraj threatened him and said: ‘I have brought seven women to my house and made them disappear. You are woman number eight. If you go too far, no one will find you. Kabiraj raped her last Thursday showing so much fear.

The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Nandail Police Station, Mizanur Rajahman Akand, said that Kabiraj was arrested after receiving a verbal complaint from the woman. The victim and the Kabiraj were questioned face to face to find out the truth of the incident. After accepting the case, the defendant was sent to court.
