The incident occurred on Friday (December 4). The man is known to have been identified as Alamin Sheikh (35) from the Shiromani Madhyapara area below the Khanjahan Ali Police Station in Khulna. He is a member of the military by profession. His wife’s name is Subarna Begum.
According to police sources, the wife Subarna Begum cooked semai on Friday and mixed sleeping pills to feed her husband. When the husband fell asleep, he cut his penis with a knife and cleared his throat. At that moment the neighbors came and rescued Alamin Sheikh in a bloody state and admitted him to Khumek Hospital.
According to multiple sources, the wife was angry because she was late home on November 26. Previously, his wife Subarna used to torture her husband for marrying a second time. The couple have a 10-year-old daughter named Cynthia in their 13-year-old family.
The officer in charge of the Khanjahan Ali (OC) police station, Prabir Kumar Biswas, said that the defendant Subarna Begum has been arrested. He is being interrogated.
