Dr. Sadat Hussain was a bureaucrat from Bangladesh and chairman of the Bangladesh Public Services Commission, one of the country’s main constitutional bodies. He also served as Chief of the Bangladesh Civil Service and as Cabinet Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh.
Sadat Hussain is a freedom fighter. He worked in the expatriate government of Bangladesh in 1971. In his working life he gained fame for his honesty, efficiency, fairness and character. He was disciplined and ethical.
Sadat Hussain was born on November 24, 1947 in the Noakhali district. He studied economics at the University of Dhaka. In 1976, he received a doctorate in economics from the United States. One of his children, Shahzad Sadat. He also has two more daughters.
Career: After completing his education, he passed the competitive exam in 1970 during the Pakistan period and joined the Pakistan Civil Service (CSP). The liberation war began in 1971 while working as an officer’s apprentice in Narail. He went to India in April and joined the expatriate government of Bangladesh. He retired as always from the Bangladesh Civil Service during his tenure as Cabinet Secretary from 2002-2005. He was appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Commission in 2006 and held the position until 2011. He has held several important positions, including the position of Chairman of the National Revenue Board. Towards the end of his career he was promoted to Cabinet Secretary.
