RAB arrested another BCL activist named Raj Chowdhury Rajan for gang-raping his wife while her husband was tied up in the dormitory at Sylhet MC College. He was arrested on Sunday night (September 26) in the Kachua Nayatila area of Fenjuganj upazila. Another young man named Ainul was also arrested for cooperating with Rajan at the time.
According to sources, another BCL leader named Rajan was hiding at a relative’s home in the area in connection with the gang rape incident. Later, Rajan and his accomplice Ainul were arrested around 1pm. He was taken to Sylhet after his arrest. Rajan is an unidentified defendant in the case, law enforcement sources said.
Previously, the RAB and the police carried out separate raids and arrested Saifur Rahman, Arjun Laskar, Mahbubur Rahman Rony and Rabiul Islam. However, two other defendants in the case, Tarekul Islam Tarek (28) from Umednagar Village from Sunamganj Sadar Police Station and Mahfuzur Rahman Masum (25) from Kanaighat Village in Gachbari, are on the run.
It can be mentioned that on September 25, BCL leaders and activists forcibly arrested a couple who were visiting MC College and took them to the dormitory. After that, Saifur and others gang-raped the girl by binding her husband and beating him. The victim’s husband filed a case at the Shahparan Police Station on Friday night. 7 people have been named as defendants in the case. At the same time, 2-3 more unidentified people were charged. The accused are- M. Saifur Rahman, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Tareq Ahmed, Arjun Laskar, Rabiul Islam and Mahfuzur Rahman. Everyone is involved in the politics of the Chhatra League. Among the defendants, Tareq and Rabiul are outsiders, the rest are MC College students.
