BCL leader retained in PM forgery

On Friday, a Dhaka court referred three people, including Tariqul Islam Mumin, the BCL’s central vice president, in a four-day detention for questioning in a case filed at the Tejgaon police station.

Tejgaon Police Zone Additional Deputy Commissioner Rubaiyat Zaman told bdnews24.com that the Prime Minister’s Office Director-6, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, had filed a case on May 5 accusing Tariqul, the assistant to the office of Prime Minister Fatema and Farhad. Tariqul was arrested from Bhola in this case.

In the case presented by Rafiqul Alam, the chairman of the history department at North North University, Professor Dr. M Enamul Haque, professor of civil engineering at BUET, is said to be present. Then, in accordance with Tariqul’s plan, Fatema took the document out of the Prime Minister’s Office and handed it over to a man named Farhad.

Farhad and Nazim Uddin, along with Tariqul, were brought before the Dhaka High Court of Metropolitan Magistrates on Friday and remained in prison for seven days.

After the hearing, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate, Moinul Islam, rejected their bail request and granted each of them pretrial detention for four days.

Although Nazim Uddin’s name was not mentioned in the case statement, his involvement in the investigation has come to light, SI police police officer Farid Mia said.
