Aung Thura, a Burmese-language BBC reporter detained in Myanmar, has been released. The BBC confirmed his release on Monday. However, no further details were provided.

On March 19, BBC journalist Aung Thura was abducted by men dressed in white while working in front of a court in the capital, Nay Pyi Taw. At that time, the white-clad men also grabbed Than Tike, a journalist from the local news portal Mizima. Earlier this month, Burmese authorities revoked the media’s license.

Forty journalists have been arrested in Myanmar since the civilian government was toppled in a military coup on February 1. The army also revoked the licenses of five media companies in the country.

Aung Thura was detained amid continued protests across the country against the coup and clashes between security forces and protesters. According to the United Nations, 149 people have so far died in the protests.

Elected civilian leaders, including Aung San Suu Kyi, have been detained in Myanmar since the military coup. Finally, there are reports that many people are fleeing the city to escape the violence and long lines of vehicles have been seen in the streets. The protesters barricade the streets, they are forced to transfer the people that the police have accused.
