Previously, the local administration issued Section 144 in the Basurhat municipal area from 6 am to 6 pm today, following the announcement of a reciprocal program of the two warring parties of the Awami League in the same place. Meanwhile, the former president of Kompaniganj Upazila Parishad Mizanur Rahman Badal announced that a rally will be held at the same place at 3 p.m. Badal announced the program at a press conference on Saturday afternoon protesting Abdul Quader Mirza’s lies about the Awami League secretary general, Obaidul Quader, and other central party leaders.
Following the enactment of Article 144 in the municipal area, the followers of Mizanur Rahman Badal organized an afternoon meeting at Tech Bazaar to protest against the anti-politics of Abdul Quader Mirza and demand justice for the murder of Burhan Uddin Muzakki.
On February 19, the mayor of Basurhat municipality, Abdul Quader Mirza, and the former president of Kompaniganj Upazila Parishad Mizanur Rahman Badal clashed. Journalist Burhan Uddin Muzakkir was seriously injured when he fell between the two groups while collecting news. He died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital the next day. The two conflicting parties have brought a case against the other in that incident.
