6 km of visible bridge
Section 40 of the Padma Bridge was installed. On Friday morning, seven days after the installation of span 39, span 40 was installed on piers 11 and 12 in the middle river at the Mawa section of the bridge in Munshiganj. It is visible six kilometers from the bridge.
Previously, span 39 of the bridge was completed on November 26 (Friday). Only one section will remain after the 40th section. Engineers plan to install the last section 41 ‘2-F’ at piers 12 and 13. In addition to the installation of spans, other works are also underway. Of these, more than 1,600 railways and more than 1,200 road slabs have been installed on the bridge.
Construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014. The Padma Bridge was made visible on September 30, 2016 with the installation of the first span on posts 37 and 38. The spans are then placed one by one. It has 5,550 meters of the bridge visible.
The main shape of this multipurpose bridge, 6.15 km long, will be two storeys. The bridge structure is being built with concrete and steel. It is reported that the Padma Bridge will open in 2021 after its completion.
A 6.15 km long Padma bridge is being built by placing 41 spans of 150 m in length on 42 piers. All colleagues are already visible. China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation, another Chinese company, is working on managing the river. Abdul Momen Limited from Bangladesh has built two roads and connecting infrastructure.
