In Fatulla de Narayanganj, a bank official allegedly abducted her husband in a minibus off the road and took him to a drug rehabilitation center, shaved his head and tortured him overnight.
After receiving a call to 999, the Fatulla Model Police rescued the bank officer Sunday morning from the Dipti Drug Rehabilitation Center in the Jalkurdi Khejurtala area of Siddhirganj.

Banking official Shahadat Hossain Fatullah, who was rescued from the drug rehabilitation center, is the son of Habibur Rahman from the Laxminagar area of Baktabali Union. He works as a branch manager for Agrani Bank Narayanganj Tanbazar. His wife, Raushan Ara, is the CEO of Southeast Bank’s head office. They live with their husband, wife and two children on the fifth floor of Alor’s home in the Donchemper area of the city.
The bank official, Shahadat, is unwilling to file any complaints against his wife. His complaint is that I am not a drug addict, but why would the people at the drug rehab center pick me up from the road in a bus and kidnap me, brutally beat me and shave my head? I want justice against the drug rehab center.
Shahadat Hossain told Jugantar that some people got on the bus and slapped him a lot. He was then taken blindfolded to the Dipti Drug Rehabilitation Center. There I shaved my head first. Then he wants to know how much money I have in my assets and in the bank. As it was too late to answer his questions, he was beaten with sticks on different parts of his body, including his hands and feet. At one point, he tied my hands and feet and beat me. He was tortured like this all night.
No one at the Dipti Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center could be reached for comment.
Some members of Shahadat’s family, who did not want to be identified, said that his wife Raushan Ara was behind the incident. He made a deal with the people at the drug rehab center and planned to kill Shahadat. The whole thing will come to light if investigated.
However, Raushan Ara denied the allegations by Shahadat’s family, telling Jugantar: “I married Shahadat three and a half years ago.” After marriage we have two children in a row. Then I learned that Shahadat married a Hindu girl named Ratna before marrying me. After torturing him, he separated Shahadat and went to Australia. Recently, his mother and sisters began to torture me in various ways. If he wanted to, he would market me and often go with his mother and sisters. My children and I did not ask. He did not speak to me politely. I could have obeyed the law if I wanted to, but I have endured all the torture to raise my husband’s family.
The Fatullah OC Aslam Hossain model police station told Jugantar that the director of the drug rehabilitation center had been arrested. The matter is being seriously investigated. The bank official has yet to submit any written complaints. However, legal action will be taken.
