The Bangladesh Reference Institute for Chemical Measurements (BRICM) has demanded the development of a ‘nasal spray’ capable of destroying the coronavirus located at the junction of the nose, nasal passages, oral cavity and respiratory tract. Called ‘Bangosef Gold Nasal Spray’. The government claims that Bangladesh is the first in the world to invent such an aerosol.
BRICM raised the issue for the first time at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology held in Parliament on Tuesday (January 12).
During the meeting, BRICM reported that they have tested this spray on 200 Kovid-19 patients at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Evidence of viral load reduction was found in patients with Covid-19.
Habibe Millat, a member of the committee, confirmed the matter to the Bengali Tribune, saying the committee had requested one more clinical trial. In addition, approval has been sought from the Bangladesh Medical Research Council and concerned departments.
The BRICM representative told the meeting that if the solution they have prepared is sprayed after 3/4 hours, the coronavirus located at the junction of the nose, nostrils, oral cavity and respiratory tract will be destroyed. If someone approaches an infected person and infection occurs, this spray will destroy the virus.
The meeting recommended strengthening oversight to ensure transparency and accountability in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theater project to be built in Rajshahi. In addition, it is recommended to increase the purchase of research vessels, the recruitment of manpower and the accommodation facilities of the Bangladesh Institute of Maritime Research.
Committee members Iqbalur Rahim, Habibe Millat, Shafiqul Azam Khan, Nizam Uddin Hazari, Mozaffar Hossain, Shirin Ahmed and Selima Ahmed participated in the meeting chaired by AFM Ruhul Haque.
