After the virtual cabinet meeting, Cabinet Secretary Anwarul Islam briefed the Secretariat on the progress of vaccination in the world and the measures taken by Bangladesh to get vaccinated.

He said there has been an uproar in different countries over the vaccine. Clinical trials have been conducted with 48 vaccines and pre-clinical trials are underway with 91 vaccines.

The cabinet secretary said that the Health Ministry had been in contact with those who made the vaccines from the beginning, adding: “We will not accept a baseline that the WHO will not recognize.

“With this in the baseline, our departments in the Ministry of Health and our pharmaceutical company are personally communicating with different countries to produce here.”
