Tipu Munshi said that India exports onions to Bangladesh according to its convenience and stops. Since the onion is not dependent on imports, the government has taken various measures to meet the needs of the country’s people. Increase onion production rapidly by using high quality seeds and encourage growers and arrange for storage of 4-5 metric tons of onions in cold storage. Also, make and market onion powder throughout the season.
Responding to a question from journalists, the Commerce Minister said that the price of potatoes has fallen in the market. TCB, under the Ministry of Commerce, has sold potatoes at affordable prices due to the increase in potato prices on the market. The price of potatoes is normal now. Edible oil prices have risen on the international market. It is a product dependent on imports. That is why its temporary impact has fallen on Bangladesh. However, the government is aware that no one can dishonestly increase the price of goods. At the moment, our rice stocks are a bit low. That is why the government has decided to import rice. The importation of rice has already started. The government will import rice to ensure the required stock. If necessary, the opportunity to import rice privately will also be provided.
