Sajib was called up to the Bangladesh team for the 2018 U19 World Cup. Under Saif Hasan’s leadership, Sri Lanka played against the U19 team. He was on the Youth Asia Cup squad. However, Sajib lost his place in the main World Cup team. It was kept on hold.
Then Sajib turned to domestic cricket. He played for the Dhaka Shinepukur Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. After that, the right-handed batsman completed his lessons in Dhaka and continued to play cricket in his hometown of Rajshahi. The 21-year-old cricketer committed suicide by tying a rope around his neck at his home Saturday night.
BdcrickettimeAbu Enam Mohammad Kaiser, Game Development Manager, BCB, said: ‘Sajib was actually our 2016 U19 cricketer. Saif, Afif played with them. He was on hold on our World Cup team. Playing a match with Sri Lanka. There was also the Asian Cup. It is very sad. I feel really bad after hearing it. ‘
Sajib has been heard to have walked this path frustrated at not having a shot at the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 five-team cricket tournament. However, Kaiser does not think so. The BCB game development manager said Sajib was not named in this tournament’s draft. It was conceivable that he had no chance there.
The Kaiser said: It’s hard to tell if it’s frustration or not. Because, it can be said that he was not in that game for several years. He focused a lot on Rajshahi. First Division in Dhaka, as much as they have played in the Premier League.
‘He wasn’t even in the draft of the next Bangabandhu T20 tournament. So there seems to be nothing to be disappointed about. But he also played a match in Rajshahi on the final day. We still can’t say exactly why. What has happened is really sad. ‘– he added.
