Dhaka: Bangladesh will buy 30 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine. This vaccine can be stored at a temperature of 2 to 6 degrees Celsius.
Which will be relatively easy for Bangladesh to salvage.
The matter was discussed at an emergency meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday (November 26) afternoon on the plan for the preparation and implementation of the national Covid-19 vaccination program.

The Health Department presented a PowerPoint presentation on the corona vaccination plan at the meeting. Under the agreement between Serum Institute India and Beximco Pharmaceuticals, the government of Bangladesh will purchase 30 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine invented by Oxford-AstraZeneca. This vaccine can be stored at a temperature of two to eight degrees Celsius, an advantage that exists in Bangladesh.
The second dose will be applied 28 days after the first dose. Taking into account the gradual availability of vaccines, initially people most at risk of Covid-19 infection, that is, healthcare workers involved in the Covid-19 epidemic, front-line workers, immunosuppressed people, older people and people with long-term illnesses are more likely to be affected.
The meeting decided that monitoring committees would be formed at the national, district and upazila levels to compile the list of priority groups and prepare the list and vaccinate before the start of vaccination activities.
Quoting the Prime Minister, the main guest said that all the people of Bangladesh will receive the corona vaccine in phases.
According to the CEO of Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Bangladesh is one of the 16 countries in the world that receive the corona vaccine as a priority.
The Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Zahid Malik, was present at the meeting as the main guest. Among others, the Chief Coordinator of the SDGs Juena Aziz, Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office. Tofazzal Hossain Mia and Bezimco Pharmaceuticals CEO Nazmul Hasan Papon.
The meeting was also attended by secretaries from the concerned ministries and departments, the director general, representatives of law enforcement agencies, public health experts and interested officials from the Prime Minister’s Office. It was chaired by the Chief Secretary. Ahmed Kaikaus.
