Dhaka: Bangladesh has provided £ 500,000 to The Gambia to fight the Rohingya genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The financial aid was announced at a conference of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries in Niger.

Mohammad Jabed Patwari, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the OIC and Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia, attended the OIC Foreign Ministers Conference in Niam, Niger.

He told the media that the conference discussed raising funds for a legal fight against Myanmar. Bangladesh has given US $ 5 lakh to The Gambia through the OIC. The Gambia needs ৫ 5 million to fight the case.

According to the OIC Secretariat, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Nigeria have provided financial assistance to the Gambia to fight the Rohingya genocide.

The 47th OIC Foreign Ministers Conference will be held in Niamey, Niger, from November 26 to 27.
