Thakurgaon: Nur Alam (42) has destroyed the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Pirganj in Thakurgaon. Police arrested him after the incident.
The incident took place at the eastern crossing of the municipal town of Pirganj on Friday (January 1) afternoon. Nur Alam is the son of Ahidul Islam from the village of Raghunathpur in Pirganj upazila.
Pirganj (OC) police officer in charge Pradeep Kumar Roy told banglanews that in the afternoon, Nur Alam hit the Bangabandhu mural at the crossroads east of the city with a brick. This broke part of the mural. Upon receiving the news, the police arrested him at the scene. The matter has been reported to the authorities. There are pending legal actions against him.
It is worth mentioning that the sculpture under construction of Bangabandhu was vandalized at the intersection of five roads in the city of Kushtia on the night of December 5.
