Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasdar Chairman Hasanul Haque Inu and Secretary General Shirin Akhtar have strongly condemned the anti-sculptural stance of religious entrepreneurs in misinterpreting religion.
In a statement issued here today, Hassad said that many sculptures have been made in all Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen and Pakistan with the history and tradition of his country and nation.
In a press release sent on the matter, they said that the position of Bangladeshi religious entrepreneurs against sculpture is in fact contrary to the history and tradition of Bangladesh and Bengalis. They said the real goal of pro-Pakistan independence and anti-liberation war religious parties and religious businessmen is to erase the name of Bangabandhu, the best Bengali of the millennium, father of the nation, architect of independent Bangladesh in history. Opposition to the installation of the Bangabandhu sculpture is part of the policy that began after 75 to remove the name of Bangabandhu.
They said that by moving the sculpture placed in front of the Supreme Court and handing out the Oscars to religious entrepreneurs, today this evil power has shown the courage to oppose the installation of the Bangabandhu sculpture. They called on the government and people to speak out against pro-Pakistan religious businessmen, religious-based political parties and opponents of militant communal fundamentalist sculptors without any hesitation.
