President. Abdul Hamid said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is not just a name. Bangabandhu is an institution, an entity, a story. Bangabandhu is as strong as the living Bangabandhu.
The president said this while addressing a special session of the National Assembly marking the centenary of the birth of the nation’s father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Monday. For the first time in the history of Parliament, this special session has been organized.
The president said: “As long as there is Bangladesh, there will be Bengalis, there will be people from this country, Bangabandhu will be the source of inspiration for everyone. It has illuminated the world as a beacon of liberation for the oppressed. Therefore, in order for our future generation to be inspired by the principles, ideals and spirit of the Bangabandhu liberation war, everyone must be an entrepreneur.
Once the parliament session began, the president entered the parliament hall. At this moment the cornet is played. Then the national anthem is played according to the rules. The main performances of the special session began with Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day speech in 1972 in Parliament. After listening to Bangabandhu’s speech, his daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was seen wiping her eyes more than once.
After replaying the speech record, the ruling party MPs chanted the slogan “Joy Bangla Joy Bangabandhu”. Most of the government and opposition party deputies, including several BNP deputies, were present at the session.
