The evildoers destroyed the sculpture of the revolutionary Baghayatin at the Kaya College of Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia. The incident took place sometime on Thursday night.
Kumarkhali Upazila Nirbahi (UN) officer Rajibul Islam Khan visited the site of the vandalism in the morning.
He said it was not immediately clear who caused the incident. The police have launched an investigation into the matter. The culprits will be brought under the law very soon. Police have been deployed there today.
It should be noted that Baghayatin was one of the fighters of the anti-British movement. He was born in this town of Kaya. He was known as Baghayatin because he fought alone with the tiger and killed it. Sculptures were erected along with the town school to commemorate his memory.
Abdus Samad, the then Khulna Divisional Commissioner, inaugurated the sculpture on December 6, 2016 to implement the Kumarkhali Upazila Administration.
