The Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) arrested a man named Zahurul Haque Rana alias Chhakku (45) for allegedly killing a child named Maisha Akhter (4) in Rangpur. He was arrested in the Keranipara area of ​​the city last Wednesday. Rangpur PBI Police Superintendent ABM Zakir Hossain said this at a press conference on Thursday at noon.

The PBI police superintendent said the boy’s family and the defendant Zahurul Haque Rana were neighbors. Maisha used to call him Dadu. Chakku lived alone at home. On the day of the incident, around 12 noon on December 26, Chhakku gave Maisha two rupees to buy Moya. When the baby Maisha bought Moa, he took her inside the house and kissed her several times. At that moment, when Maisha hit Chhakku with a bamboo twig, she got angry and pushed the boy hard. Maisha died instantly after colliding with a bamboo.

Then they put his body in a sack and hid it. Later, around 11 pm, Chhakku left Maisha’s body in the ponds of neighbors Matin and Shaheen and went into hiding.

On the morning of December 29, locals informed the police when they saw Maisha’s body dumped on the river bank. Maisha is the daughter of grill mechanic Monowar Hossain from the Barbari Sarkarpara area of ​​Rangpur City. Monwar Hossain filed a case with the Kotwali Police Station of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police on the same day. Rangpur PBI took over the investigation of the case.

At one stage of the investigation, Zahurul Haque Rana, who was involved in the incident, was arrested in Keranipara in the city. When he was later brought to court, Chhakku gave a confessional statement.

It is worth mentioning that Maisha has been missing since noon on December 26. The miking was done at night, as it could not be found until late at night. The next day, on the morning of December 29, the police recovered his body from the pond.
