Ayesha Khanam was born on October 16, 1948 in Kaliyara Gabragati village in Netrokona Sadar Upazila into a traditional Khan family. He was a former member of the CPB Central Committee. Ayesha Khanam also provided medical services to injured freedom fighters in Agartala. He has served as Vice President and General Secretary of the Rokeya Hall Student Parliament at Dhaka University.
