Sharmin Mausumi Keka, organizing secretary of the Jhalokati District Awami League, has been expelled from the party on various charges including cutting a woman’s hair and torturing her, demolishing a school’s Shaheed Minar and building a trading post. The decision was made at an emergency meeting of the district Awami League at the party’s party office at the town hall on Monday. The secretary of the district Awami League office, Shahidul Islam, said that the decision of the meeting would be sent to the Center after the resolution.

Some leaders of the Awami League present at the meeting said that the district Awami League had held an emergency meeting to take organizational action against Sharmin Mausumi Kekar. Sharmin Mausumi Keka has been carrying out activities against the organization from a key position in the party.

All the leaders present at the meeting recommended the expulsion of Keka from the party. A party source confirmed that the meeting was convened on the instructions of Jhalakati-2 MP Amir Hossain Amur.
