The government has taken the initiative to coordinate land registration and nomenclature activities. As a result, the land will be automatically registered within eight days of registration. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam made the remarks at a limited press conference in the Secretariat after the cabinet meeting on Monday (November 9) at noon.
Previously, a virtual cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Prime Minister of Ganobhaban and other members of the Cabinet of the Secretariat attended the virtual meeting.
At a press conference, the cabinet secretary said: “The cabinet approved the proposal to coordinate land registration and nomenclature activities.” This has created a new chapter for the people of the country, the general public, investors. As a result, the demands will be reduced. Earlier this year, the Prime Minister instructed on how to make land registration and naming more convenient so that people are not harassed and time is not taken. He said: ‘The current system is carried out by the Office of the Sub-Registrar of the Ministry of Land Registration and Registration and the Land Office of the Upazila Circle under the Ministry of Lands. Having two ministries made communication difficult all the time. Because of this there was delay and there was also ambiguity in the record. Anyone can register any land.
The Cabinet Secretary said: “From now on, there will be internal software between the Sub-Registrar’s Office and the Aceland Office. 43 million records have been connected across all Aceland offices in Bangladesh. From now on, the Sub-Registrar Office and the Aceland Office will be able to access each other’s servers. When someone goes to the field to register, the sub-registrar will not register immediately, they will know the Aceland office rights register online. Until now, two documents had to be done. From now on you have to make three documents. The Aceland office will also receive an additional document. Since Aceland is obtaining the documents online and the land has been verified and registered by him, Aceland will not need anything additional. It will automatically complete the mutation (Namjari) through software management. In this case, you do not have to call anyone. You have been given a maximum of eight days, but it won’t take even 7 days. Within these 7 days, it will be automatically registered. Work has already started on 16 upazilas.
Khandaker Anwarul Islam said: “Many people register land, they mutate, but they don’t register. From now on you have to register. Aceland will be responsible for giving monthly reports on how many mutations have occurred and how many have been recorded. Otherwise, there are problems paying rent and there are many other problems.
Noting that the Prime Minister has given special instructions to ensure that third-sex people get an equal share of the land, the Cabinet Secretary said: “There will be no problem with that. We will see that they are not deprived of ownership of his parents. The Prime Minister has repeatedly emphasized the issue. If someone is of the third sex, how he will get a share of the land is set out in the legacy of Muslim law. But that is not the case for other religions, he has instructed the Prime Minister so that no one is deprived.
The cabinet meeting was also briefed on ‘Sustainable Development Goals: Bangladesh Progress Report-2020’ and the establishment of a regional office of the ‘Bangladesh Global Adaptation Center’.
