The burial of author Mushtaq Ahmed has been completed. He was buried in the Azimpur cemetery in the capital on Friday (February 26) at around 10:45 p.m. His family and friends were present at the time. Mushtaq Ahmed’s body was brought to his home after an autopsy at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical University Hospital in Gazipur on Friday.
Mushtaq Ahmed’s cousin Mofizul Islam told various media outlets on Friday evening that Mushtaq Ahmed’s janaza took place at a mosque in the Lalmatia C block on Friday night before the burial. Locals and relatives also participated.
Meanwhile, various parties and organizations staged a one-day protest in the capital on Friday to protest the death of Mushtaq Ahmed. The protests took place in the areas of the city’s Press Club, Shahbag and Shaheed Minar. In the afternoon, various organizations held janaza and in absentia demonstrations in Shahbag.
It is worth mentioning that the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore and writer Mushtaq Ahmed from Kakrail and Lalmatia on May 5 under the Digital Security Law.
On the same day, RAB-3 NCO Abu Bakar Siddique brought the case against 11 people, including cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore, at the Ramna Police Station.
The case alleges that the defendant posted several posts on the Facebook page called ‘I am Bangladeshi’, which included propaganda or rumors, to tarnish the image or reputation of the state or to spread confusion. Which creates confusion among the people and degrades law and order.
