In Jagannathpur of Sunamganj, a young man named Shahin Ahmed (26) aka Sunu Mia tried to rape a housewife by mixing soft drinks with drugs. Police arrested him on the charge and sent him to jail on Tuesday. The young man arrested is the son of the late Abdur Rab from the village of Gargarhia (Sharifpur Aizla) in the Mirpur union of the upazila.
According to the case, 30-year-old Jalal Mia, son of the late Shafar Ali from Monpur village in Sunamganj Sadar, came to the home of a housewife in the Sharifpur Aizlabari area of Mirpur upazila to work on boron land. On October 10, around 8 p.m., Jalal Mia and Shahin Ahmed, the housewife’s son-in-law, had a soda and the housewife’s husband and their eight-year-old son drank it and fell asleep in another room of the house. Shahin and Jalal entered the housewife’s room around 1.30pm and attempted to rape the woman. Shahin and Jalal fled when neighbors approached after hearing their screams.
The woman filed a complaint at the Jagannathpur Police Station on Monday. The housewife mentioned on the charge sheet that although her husband and children drank soft drinks that night, she did not. Drugs mixed in the drink.
Jagannathpur Police Station, ASI Muktar Ali, said: “Shahin Ahmed has been arrested for the woman’s written complaint. An attempt is being made to capture the other accused. He has filed a case in this regard.
