Wahida Khanam, an officer with Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi (UN) in Dinajpur, and her father, Omar Ali, have been held in pre-trial detention for seven days.

The two defendants, Nabirul Islam and Santu Kumar, who were arrested at 7pm on Saturday, were brought before the court of the Chief Judge of Dinajpur, Court Judge Ghoraghat Amli, Judge 6, Shishir Kumar Basu.

The case was removed from the Ghoraghat police station on Saturday afternoon and handed over to the Detective Section (DB) of the police.

DB OC Imam Zafar, the investigating officer on the case, said: “Since the case is important, we have asked the judge for a 10-day pre-trial detention to further question the accused.” The wise judge granted 7 days of preventive detention to the two defendants. We are taking the case seriously. Furthermore, the main defendant in the Asadul Islam case has not yet been handed over to us. If he is handed over to us, we will also seek preventive detention against him.
