A mobile court arrested a woman named Nazma Begum and sent her to jail for marrying her teenage daughter using a false birth certificate. The incident took place at Char Fashion Upazila in Bhola around 10:30 pm on Friday. A mobile court sentenced Nazma Begum to one year in prison. The court was headed by Upazila Nirbahi (UN) officer Mohammad Ruhul Amin.
UNO said that Nazma Begum decided to marry her teenage daughter (14) to Abdullah Al Noman (28), a young man from the same upazila. On Friday night, Nazma Begum went to the marijuana area with her daughter. During the marriage ceremony, he concealed his daughter’s name and address and presented someone else’s birth certificate to Qazi. Meanwhile, after receiving the news of the child marriage, an operation was carried out there.
The UN Mohammad Ruhul Amin said that verification showed that the birth registration certificate presented to Qazi was false. Later, Nazma Begum, the teenager’s mother, was sentenced to one year in prison for arranging child marriage in a mobile court. Abdullah Al Noman was fined five thousand rupees. Nazma Begum was sent to jail for the night.
