WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is not being released on bail. A UK court ruled on Wednesday. Reuters News.

The decision was made by Vanessa Baritzer, a judge at the Westminster Magistrates Court in London. “Considering the various issues, I am sure that if Assange is released, he will not surrender to the court after the start of the appeal hearing,” he said. He maintained that the decision on the appeal was not yet certain.

However, the same judge said in an order last Monday that Assange should not be turned over to the United States.

In 2010, Assange leaked documents about the various diplomatic activities of the US administration in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Although the administration of then-US President Barack Obama took no action, President Donald Trump’s administration brought 16 indictments against Assange in 2019, including espionage. Assange could face up to 175 years in prison if convicted in a US court.
