A court has sent 10 people arrested in connection with the murder of Assistant Chief Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anisul Karim at Mind Aid Hospital in the capital for seven days. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam issued the order on Tuesday.
The investigating officer of the case today presented the defendant at the Main Metropolitan Magistrates Court of Dhaka and requested pretrial detention for 10 days. After the request, the judge ordered it for seven days.
The detained defendants are Mind Aid Hospital Marketing Manager Arif Mahmud Joy, Coordinator Redwan Sabbir, Chef Md. Masood, Wardboy Jobayer Hossain, Pharmacist. Tanvir Hasan, Wardboy said. Tanim Mollah, Sajib Chowdhury, Asim Chandra Pal, Maryland. Liton Ahmed and Md. Saiful Islam Palash.

Earlier today, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Tejgaon Area Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harun Aur Rashid said: “Everyone has accepted responsibility for the incident. Anisul Karim is known to have been the 31st BCS Police Officer. He was second on the list of merits of the police cadre in that BCS. He was considered the first of the lot as he was not the first to do the basic course. However, the family said that the police officer was mentally disturbed. He was taken to a mental hospital for this.
CCTV footage recovered by the police has gone viral on social media. According to the video, police officer Anisul Karim was dragged into a room around 11:55 a.m. yesterday. He was thrown to the ground by some hospital employees. Some grabbed him by the legs. At that moment, two employees on the side of the head hit him with their elbows.
As you can see from the video, when Anisul rolled onto his stomach four minutes later, his body was numb. Then an employee sprayed water on his face. But Anisul Karim did not reply. Seven minutes later, a woman dressed in a white apron entered the room. The bedroom door closed in 11 minutes. A woman wearing a white apron had her breast pumped in 13 minutes.
The late Anisul Karim graduated from the Department of Biochemistry at Jahangirnagar University. He worked in the traffic department of the Barisal Metropolitan Police. Previously, he served in Netrokona District, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, RAB and Police Headquarters.
