Police have yet to arrest the four hospital associates in connection with the murder of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anisul Karim Shipon at Mind Aid’s Psychiatric and Deaddiction Hospital in Adabar, the capital. The four directors, Abdullah Al Mamun, Sakhawat Hossain, Sajjad Amin and Fatema Khatun, were arrested, police officials said. Several teams are carrying out operations to stop them.
Arif Mahmood Joy, one of the two arrested directors, has been in custody for seven days along with nine other employees. Niaz Morshed, director of the National Institute of Neuroscience and the hospital, was arrested last Tuesday due to illness. Investigators said all the patients were taken to the soundproof room where Anisul was tortured to death on behalf of observation on the second floor of the hospital. Torture was carried out only if the patient was mentally disobedient. He was detained for a long time. The defendant gave such information during police interrogation in preventive detention.
Meanwhile, the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) on Wednesday revoked the license of the hospital’s drug addiction treatment center on the recommendation of the visiting team.
Meanwhile, several sources close to Anisul said that although she was first in the police cadre in the 31st BCS exam, Anisul’s promotion was later blocked in a ‘conspiratorial’ departmental case.
