ASI Raihanul Islam, who was in police custody for gang-raping a schoolgirl in Rangpur, was arrested on Wednesday night. Rangpur PBI (Police Investigation Bureau) ABM Police Superintendent Zakir Hossain confirmed the information.
Previously, two other arrested defendants had made confessional statements under section 164 in court. Yesterday afternoon they testified before Senior Judge Jahangir Alam. In the same court, the tortured schoolgirl identified the accused and testified.
PBI arrested Babul Hossain, 38, son of Kari Mahmud from the East Majapara area of Lalmonirhat Sadar and Abul Kalam Azad, 40, son of the late Kachu Mia of East Thanapara on Tuesday morning on charges of gang rape. .
ASI Raihanul Islam from DB Metropolitan Police had a love affair with a ninth-class student at Mainakuthi Kachutari in Rangpur city. Last Friday, ASI Raihanul took the girl to a house in the pool area of the home team and raped her. Later on Sunday, Babul Hossain and Abul Kalam Azad raped the girl. The matter came to light when the student fell ill on the day of the incident.
The girl’s father, Raihanul Islam, alias Raju, and several others were charged in the incident and filed a rape case at the Haragachh Police Station. The case was handed over to Rangpur PBI from the Haragachh Police Station on Monday.
Meanwhile, Rangpur civil society issued a memorandum demanding the arrest and punishment of ASI Raihan, the main defendant in the rape case. A memorandum was delivered to Rangpur Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Al Farooq yesterday at noon.
