On the occasion of holy Ashura, various religious organizations have carried out various programs throughout the country, including the capital Dhaka. As there is no permission from the administration, this time, even if there is a new procession at the Hosseini Dalan premises in Imambara, it will not come out. Furthermore, the duel has been organized in Imambara in accordance with hygiene regulations.

On Sunday (August 30), the day of Ashura, a new procession will take place at Hossaini Dalan Chattar on Nazimuddin Road in Old Dhaka. The procession will begin at 10 in the morning. At the same time, other Ashura activities will be as in other times, Hosseini Dalan Imambara management officials said.

Today is a national holiday on the occasion of Holy Ashura. Several newspapers will publish special articles on the occasion. Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and several private satellite radio and television channels are broadcasting special programs highlighting the importance of Ashura.

A press release issued by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all kinds of taziya, mourning and pike processions in the capital on the holy day of Ashura. The Chittagong Metropolitan Police have also banned new processions in the port city.

The DMP said in a statement that all kinds of taziya, mourning and pike processions on the occasion of Holy Ashura are prohibited to ensure the safety of citizens in the current situation of coronavirus infection. However, the devout inhabitants of the city will be able to perform religious ceremonies in Imambara in accordance with the health regulations. It is strictly forbidden to carry knives, daggers, scissors, spears, spears, swords and clubs on the premises and to set off fireworks and cookies.

Imam Husayn, grandson of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), was mercilessly martyred by Yazid forces in the Karbala Desert on the banks of the Euphrates River near the city of Kufa, Iraq, on Muharram 10, ’61 d. C. (60 AD). This incident of the sacrifice of Imam Husayn (as) in protest against injustice has become clear in the history of Islam.
