One of the defendants in the murder case of blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy Major (expelled) Syed Mohammad. The court has issued an arrest warrant for Ziaul Haque Zia.
On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim accepted the charge sheet and at the same time issued an arrest warrant for Major Zia for escape. The deputy inspector of the Khilgaon Police Station General Registration Officer Yusuf Hossain confirmed the information in court.
Earlier on Sunday, the investigative officer of the case Ramna Shah zone team police inspector. Akhtaruzzaman Elias presented the charge sheet against 13 people.
The defendants on the charge sheet are: Major (expelled) Syed Mohammad. Ziaul Haque Zia, Md. Masum Rana, Saad Al Nahin, Maryland. Kawsar Hossain Khan, Maryland. Kamal Hossain Sardar, Maulana Mufti Abdul Ghaffar, Maryland. Mortuza Faisal Sabbir, Md. Tarekul Alam alias Tarek, Khairul Islam alias Jamil alias Rifat alias Fahim alias Jisan, Abu Siddique Sohail alias Shakib alias Sahab, Mozammel Hossain Simon, Md. Arafat Rahman and Md. Sheikh Abdullah alias Jubayer.
According to the case statement, Niloy was killed on August 8, 2016 at his home on Highway No. 8 near the East Goran Tempo Stand in the capital. Four young men entered Niloy’s house talking about renting a house and took his wife Ashamani hostage at gunpoint. He then stabbed Nilay in the neck and neck.
His wife Ashamani filed a murder case at the Khilgaon Police Station for the incident.
