The farmers did not get any solution even after holding two meetings with the Indian government. The two sides are scheduled to meet again on Saturday. But the only demand from farmers on the Delhi border now is to repeal the farm law. The central government is convening a special session of parliament. Farmers say they will block toll gates on all roads and will not allow the government to collect tolls as part of the ban. Farmer leader Harinder Singh Lakhowal said: “Many more people will come with us.” Despite meeting with the Indian government on Saturday, farmers’ leaders said they would only abide by the three farm laws.
It is worth mentioning that the Minister of Agriculture of the Union of India, Narendra Singh Tomar, had a meeting with the farmers’ leaders on December 1. When he proposed to form a separate committee with peasant leaders, the peasant leadership refused to accept him. That meeting was unsuccessful. The Union Agriculture Minister visited Amit Shah’s residence on Wednesday to review the situation. Also present was the Minister of Railways, Piyush Goel. The situation in Delhi centered on the peasant movement was discussed in detail. Later, Punjab’s chief minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, sat down to meet Amit Shah. He appealed to Amit Shah to solve the problem through talks with farmers.
The move fell on the ninth day of Friday. Meanwhile, peasant leaders said they had come to Delhi in preparation for a long move. They have warned that they will not be excluded from the movement until the three black laws of the anti-peasant center are repealed. Peasant leaders demanded that the government repeal the Center’s new agricultural laws by convening a special parliamentary session. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also spoke with farmers by phone.
