The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has already announced that it has occupied parts of the disputed territory. President Ilham Aliyev has claimed that his country’s army has occupied the village of Madajik. A main road heading north can be monitored from this strategically important small town.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has called on all Armenians to join. “Perhaps we are going through the ‘deadliest moment’ in our millennial history,” he said. Now we have to move forward with the sole objective of winning.
The rockets and shelling began last Saturday in Stephankart, the regional capital of Karabakh. Regional defense officials also acknowledged the heavy bombardment that day.
Regional powers Russia and Turkey are also feared to be involved in the Nagorno-Karabakh war. Armenia is a member of a military alliance of former Soviet countries led by Russia.
