Chris Gayle, ‘Universal Boss’, hit the IPL stage on Friday night. The world of cricket has witnessed an extraordinary display of energetic warm-up. He also hit the 1000th six-wicket milestone of his T20 career in the match against the Rajasthan Royals.

He was out just one race of the century in the match. Gayle was so depressed that he threw his bat to the ground. For this behavior he was later fined. England’s Joffra Archer picked up his wicket in the match. One thing to keep in mind about Archer is that he tweeted something in the past that later happened on the ground.

Interestingly, 8 years ago today, Archer wrote in a tweet that he would not allow Gayle to score a century if he had a chance to go bowling. His old tweet after Friday’s game is now viral. The reason is that in the last ball of Punjab innings yesterday, Archer actually stopped Gayle from taking his window for 99 runs.

Note that Kings XI Punjab faced Rajasthan Royals in IPL match 50. This match was important for both teams in the fight to reach the play-offs and it was also very important for the other teams. After winning the toss, Rajasthan captain Steve Smith sent the Kings at bat. Gayle was fired for 99 of 63 balls. He also formed a 120-race partnership with Captain Lokesh Rahul. Archer’s perfect yorker toppled Gayle’s stumps for 99 races. The enraged Caribbean star was also fined for throwing the bat into the field.

Because of this, the pair of tweets made by Archer in 2013 went viral. “If I had the ball, I wouldn’t have let him score a century,” he wrote in his first tweet.

The second tweet is from 2016. Where Archer writes in the form of advice: “Don’t hurt yourself this way.”

Both tweets matched Gayle’s situation on Friday. The first is to deprive Gayle of a century and the second is an indication that Gayle shouldn’t hurt himself throwing the bat.
