The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement approved a total of eight proposals, including the purchase of another 50,000 metric tons of non-basmati boiled rice from India.

On Wednesday, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement was held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

Additional Cabinet Secretary at the end of the meeting approved the proposals. Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal told reporters that a proposal was approved to buy 50,000 metric tons of non-basmati boiled rice from India at a cost of 186.2 million taka. The rice will be supplied by MS PK Agrilink, a company based in Birbhumi, West India. The purchase price of rice per kg (excluding tax) will be Rs 33.82.

Although a total of 9 proposals were presented at the meeting, the procurement committee recommended approval of 8 proposals. In his introductory speech at the post-meeting press conference, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told reporters that the situation in Corona has yet to be resolved. Even then, I hope the Bangladeshi economy will do well next year. This decline will be noticed around the world. Similarly, the macroeconomy will also be adversely affected.
