Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited has received approval from the Department of Drug Administration (DGDA) to import the Oxford-AstraZeneca Corona vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India. This vaccine has also been approved for use in emergencies.
DGDA spokesman Ayub Hossain confirmed the matter to The Daily Star on Monday.
He said the DGDA had given Beximco a certificate of no objection for importing the vaccine from the Seram Institute of India.
Health Secretary Abdul Mannan said the DGDA had allowed the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to be imported as well as emergency use.
The Oxford-AstraZeneca corona vaccine is being produced in India by the Serum Institute. The government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India’s Seram Institute of India and Bangladesh’s Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited on November 5 to procure 30 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca corona vaccine, Kovishield, after receiving approval. final.
