He also called on Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to step down.

Last month, Anwar demanded an overwhelming majority of support from lawmakers. This time, in an attempt to prove himself, he met the king at the palace on Tuesday morning.

According to the palace, Anwar only gave Raja the number of members of parliament, he did not reveal their identity. Anwar claimed that these members supported him to become Prime Minister.

The palace has asked Anwar to show respect for the constitutional process. The king will now decide what will be the next step in this struggle for power in Malaysia.

If Raja does not agree with the majority support Anwar speaks of, he can keep Muhidin Yassin as Prime Minister. It can also call general elections on the advice of the Prime Minister.

Anwar told reporters: “Let the king decide and speak according to his wishes, in accordance with the constitution. I appeal to Malaysians.”

“We must also bear in mind that Muhiddin has lost the majority. Therefore, it would be right for him to resign now.”

Anwar Ibrahim’s new government in Malaysia?

If Anwar can come to power in the end, his 22-year struggle will see success. During this time, Anwar spent almost 10 years in prison for homosexuality.

Last month, Anwar said he had the support of two-thirds of the 222 lawmakers. Then Anwar’s job was to persuade the king.

Prime Minister Muhiddin Yasin did not comment on the king’s meeting with Anwar on Tuesday. He told reporters that he left the matter to the king’s discretion.

In February, then-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad resigned amid a week-long political tug-of-war in Malaysia.

Then Muhinuddin Yasin became the prime minister chosen by the king. By becoming Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim lost the opportunity to come to power after Mahathir.
