The government plans to launch antigen tests starting next month. To do this, the staff will be given the necessary training for antigen analysis starting next week. The additional director general of the Department of Health, Mirzadi Sebrina, said this in response to a question from reporters.
On Wednesday, the Health Department hosted a meeting titled ‘Covid-19 and Other Health Update’. The meeting was held in the meeting room of the health department. There, Sebrina answered questions from reporters.
Sebrina said the test would initially be rolled out in 10 districts where RT-PCR testing is not available and infection detection rates are high. It will start from next month.
However, he did not give a specific date for the start of the antigen test. That being said, there are some kits for this test, more kits will come.
Noting that the number of tests will not increase as soon as the antigen test is introduced, the health department official said that if there are no signs and symptoms in the antigen test, there is a risk of false negatives (infected, but not detected in the test). Those who test positive will be diagnosed.
And those who do not test positive with signs and symptoms will be asked for an RT-PCR test.
