For the fourth day in a row, protests against rape and oppression of women across the country and an end to violence against women have taken place under the slogan “Bangladesh against rape and injustice”.
Protesters held a rally in front of the Shahbagh National Museum on Thursday (October 8). They also called for a rally in Shahbagh at 3pm on Friday to accelerate the anti-rape movement. It will be attended by university professors, journalists, human rights activists, lawyers, and people from various professions.
On the fourth day of the anti-rape movement, Shahbagh was filled with processions, speeches, songs, poems and slogans. The agitators came from different districts outside of Dhaka and joined. The protesters demanded the death penalty and the confiscation of property for those involved in the rape. He also strongly condemned attacks on police and government supporters in anti-rape movements in different parts of the country.
After the fourth day of the protest procession, Al Qaderi Joy, central president of the Socialist Student Front, said that Pakistanis had tortured the people of Bangladesh for nine months in ’71, physically abused their mothers and sisters. The cries of rape victims cannot be heard in any civilized society. The Minister of the Interior of this uncivilized society and state must immediately resign and the BCL, the Juba League and the violating league must be tried and punished. Otherwise, the country’s 160 million freedom-loving people will judge and free them.
He added that Shahbag has once again risen up against the ongoing torture and rape of women in Bangladesh. War will be declared on the rapists with the people of the country. Tomorrow (Friday) the day of war is declared. A big rally will be organized in Shahbagh at 3pm on this day. We will bring the justice of this government, the Chhatra League and the Violator League to the people through that demonstration.
