Bhopal police have brought a case against Muslims, including a Congressional MLA, for mocking the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and supporting the publication of cartoons and protesting the anti-Islamic remarks of French President Emmanuel Macro.
According to the Hindustan Times, several thousand protesters, led by the Bhopal Congress MLA Arif Masood, gathered at Iqbal Maidan on Thursday. This time they chanted slogans against the French president.
Police have registered an FIR against the MLA Congress, some academics, and 2,000 unidentified individuals in the incident.
Madhya Pradesh’s chief minister, governed by the BJP, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has made it clear that such protests will not be tolerated.
Posting a video of the protest, Shivraj tweeted that Madhya Pradesh is an island of peace. Strict measures will be taken against those who want to disturb the peace of the state. Action is being taken by filing a case under Section 16 of the Indian Penal Code. Whatever it is, no culprit will get an exemption.
While protests in most parts of the world, including the Muslim world, over satirical cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and calls for a boycott of French products are intensifying, the hashtag on social media in India shows otherwise.
The hashtags ‘Stand with France’ and ‘We Stand with France’ have been seen as the highest trends in the country on Twitter. Thousands of Indians have sent hashtag messages on social media expressing their solidarity with France.
India has strongly condemned a personal attack on French President Emmanuel Macron for taking a hard line against “radical Islam.”
The country’s Foreign Ministry said in a stern statement on Wednesday that the personal attack on Macron violated most of the basic criteria of international negotiations.

Furthermore, after the teacher’s assassination, Macron further incited hatred of Islam. This has created anger among Muslims around the world. Turkey-Pakistan has called for a boycott of French products.
Muslims have also demanded the expulsion of the French ambassador from the capital. But on the contrary, India has been seen openly supporting the French president.
