Another child, Abdullah (10), has been accused of randomly hitting Sifat Ahmed (4) on the head with a mobile phone in Sreepur, Gazipur.
Police recovered the boy’s body from inside the border wall of an abandoned place in Dargarchala village (across from Dolphin Bakery) in Sreepur Township at 10:30 pm on Monday.
The police arrested Shishu Abdullah (10) in the incident. The officer in charge (operations) of Sreepur Police Station, Golam Sarwar, confirmed the incident.
The deceased was identified as Sifat, son of Abu Bakar Siddique from Jhanugach Chapani village under Dimla upazila from Nilphamari district. Sifat rents a house with her parents at Abdus Salam’s home in Kewa Paschimkhand (Mauna Chowrasta Barnamala Mor). Defendant Abdullah is the son of Amir Qazi from Syedpur village in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna. He lives with his parents in the adjoining room of the same owner’s house.
The officer in charge (operations) of Sreepur Police Station, Golam Sarwar, said that the boy Sifat Ahmed came out to play with Abdullah in the next room on Monday afternoon. When Sifat did not return home in the afternoon, her parents began looking for relatives and friends at home. Abu Bakar Siddique, the father of the missing person, filed a General Diary (GD) at the Sreepur Police Station in the evening describing the incident.
At 8:30 pm, his father went to the scene and identified Sifat’s body. Upon receiving the news, the police arrested another defendant, Abdullah.
He further said that during preliminary interrogation, Abdullah confessed that he took Sifat’s Android mobile phone and entered through the border wall of the abandoned land. There, the boy hit Sifat on the head with a mobile phone and killed him.
