A total of five bombs were found there. It is believed that they were during the liberation war of 1971.

The bomb, which was found on Wednesday, weighed around 250 kg, according to a press release from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

A bomb search team from the Bangladesh Air Force is said to have found the bomb underground at around 11:15 am. The bomb was subsequently deactivated with the necessary equipment and shipped to a safe location for careful destruction.

An unexploded ordnance (UXO) was found on December 9 while piling up in the third terminal under construction at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, according to the statement. The Air Force bomb disposal team later defused the bomb. The bomb was later sent to the Air Force firing range at Rasulpur in Tangail to destroy it.

Since then, an Air Force bomb search team has been conducting regular bomb search operations in the area. A fifth bomb was recovered on Wednesday.

ISPR quoted bomb experts as saying the bomb was similar to the four previously recovered.
