Dhaka: The government has yet to consider a lockdown, despite being instructed to draw up an action plan in the next seven to ten days to deal with a possible second wave.
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam made the remarks after an inter-ministerial meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday (September 22) following the prime minister’s directive to prepare for the second wave.
Six months after the first corona infection in the country on March 8, the death toll has risen to 5,008 by September 22. The total number of victims is 3 lakh 52 thousand 17 people. Due to the infection, public life gradually began to return to normal after the 7-day general holiday (closure) on March 26.
In addition to the closure of public transport during the 7-day lockdown, commercial establishments also remained closed. Educational institutions are closed so far.
In many countries of the world, especially in the main winter countries, the second phase of the corona virus is being transmitted. Experts say that Bangladesh should be prepared for a second wave from late November to early winter. Great preparations must be made to stop the second wave.

When asked if there was anything like a blockade, the cabinet secretary said: “We haven’t thought about it (the blockade) yet.
The cabinet secretary said the possible second wave of Corona would be managed by keeping the economy afloat. To this end, the concerned ministries / departments have been asked to prepare an action plan within 8-10 days.
