Dhaka: President. Abdul Hamid has appointed AM Amin Uddin, Chief Counsel of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and current Chairman of the Supreme Court Bar Association, as Attorney General of Bangladesh.
This was reported in a press release from the Ministry of Justice on Thursday (October 6).
According to the statement, the President appointed Abu Mohammad Amin Uddin, a high-ranking Supreme Court attorney, to the post of Attorney General of Bangladesh until he was re-elected in accordance with article 64 of the Constitution.
AM Amin Uddin enlisted as an attorney for the Supreme Court on October 26, 1989.
Amin Uddin, the current president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, also once served as Deputy Attorney General.
AM Amin Uddin was elected secretary of the Supreme Court Bar on two occasions between 2006 and 2007.
He was also elected president twice in a row in the last 2019-2020 session and in the 2020-2021 session.
The government appointed AM Amin Uddin to the post after Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, who had been in charge since 2009, died in the ICU of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on September 27.
