Sylhet: A girlfriend was gang-raped on the MC College campus on Friday night. Some cadres of the Chhatra League gang-raped her husband.

Police rescued the woman and her husband from the bedroom at 10:30 pm. The raped woman was admitted to the OCC of Osmani Medical College Hospital.

After news of this incident spread, images of those involved in the rape incident went viral via social media. There are fights across the country over the incident of the wife’s gang rape in front of her husband. Police recovered firearms and domestic weapons from the room of the accused BCL leader while he was trying to catch the accused. But even though the police could not track down the defendant, the defendants speak out on Facebook.

On Saturday (September 27), two defendants in the case were seen posting status on Facebook. They have claimed their innocence in the status quo.

Rabiul Islam, the fifth defendant in the gang rape case, posted on Facebook around 11am on Saturday. He wrote: “Conscious respected citizens, I am Rabiul Hasan. I am a student at MC College. Many of you know, perhaps many people know what kind of person I am. With MC’s dorm gang rape yesterday, who or what has made a lot of news online involving me, I’m an MC college student, but I’ve never been to a hostel, I’m still studying from home. I beg of you all, I am not involved in this brutal gang rape, we have families. If I am involved in this heinous act, may I be given exemplary punishment in public. I am not involved in this work in any way. I humbly ask everyone not to spread the name of the Chhatra League without knowing the truth.

I demand exemplary punishment by arresting all the beasts that gang-raped the MC University dormitory. ‘

Earlier, Mahfuzur Rahman Masum, the seventh defendant in the case, wrote on Facebook: ‘I am not involved in such heinous acts. Kill me publicly if you get proof of stake. There is faith only in God. God will absolve me. But God will judge you for driving me to suicide before I am proven innocent. ‘

Despite speaking on Facebook, Shahparan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (CO) Kaiyum Chowdhury told banglanews about the arrest of the defendants: “We are doing everything possible to arrest the defendant.” The operation continues in separate locations.

In this regard, the additional deputy commissioner (media) of the Sylhet city police, Jyotirmoy Sarkar, said that the issue of giving the defendant status was not noted on the Facebook wall. I will share this matter with the investigating officer.

On Friday night (September 25), the husband was arrested in the MC College dormitory and his wife was allegedly gang-raped by six BCL leaders and activists. Upon receiving the news, police rescued the couple from the bedroom at around 10:30 pm. Later, the raped girl was admitted to the OCC Center of the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

The victim’s husband filed a case at the city’s Shahparan police station on Saturday morning, naming six people and charging two or three others.
