Sirajganj: Three people, including two teenagers, have been accused of gang raping a 14-year-old girl for a month for fear of posting the video of the gang rape on Facebook.
The incident took place at Porjana Guchhgram of the Porjana Union in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj.
The locals arrested a van driver named Yusuf Ali (18) and handed him over to the police.
He was arrested on Wednesday (December 2) afternoon and taken to the police station. Yusuf Ali (18) is the son of Ali from that village.
The police are trying to arrest Jibon, 16, the son of Mintu Pramanik and Faisal, 18, the son of Manik Hossain from the same village.
The victim’s father said that a month ago, while they were going to school, Yusuf, Jeevan and Faisal grabbed my daughter from the road and took her to a room in Faisal’s secluded house and gang-raped her. At that time, Faisal recorded a video of the rape on Yusuf’s mobile phone. After that, for the past month, three people had been calling the girl and taking turns raping for fear of spreading the video on Facebook. My daughter screamed on Tuesday night (December 1) when they tried to drag her away for rape. People from the area rushed to the scene and arrested Yusuf. Sensing the presence of the people, Faisal and Jiban fled.
Shahjadpur (SI) Police Deputy Inspector Abul Hossain said: “We went to the scene, arrested Yusuf and took him to the police station.” The girl’s father has filed a case with the Shahjadpur Police Station. The operation is underway to arrest the rest of the accused.
Meanwhile, locals and school children have protested in the area demanding exemplary punishment for those involved in the gang rape.
